Dear AFSAAP members, contacts, and all interested in African Studies.

The African Studies Association of Australasia and the Pacific (AFSAAP) will hold its annual conference in Dunedin, New Zealand. As usual, the 2019 conference will draw participants in different disciplines including academics, researchers, students, practitioners and policy makers, and the diaspora community, with interests in African studies, both on the African continent and in the Australasia and Pacific region. Registration is now open and the conveners are urging all conference participants to register on time.

AFSAAP CONFERENCE: REGISTRATION/PAYMENT & VISAS

If attending the AFSAAP 2019 Annual Conference, the New Zealand organisers advise all to please register and pay as a matter of urgency.

Registration fees must be paid if your paper is accepted and you wish to attend.

Payment Amount:

Standard registration/waged: AUD $315;

Student/unwaged: AUD $225 (includes lunch, morning & afternoon tea/coffee, conference dinner, and AFSAAP membership for 2019/2020).

Payment procedures are provided when you register.

VISAS: If you require a Letter of Invitation for a New Zealand visa application, please send us the following details ASAP so that we can provide this for you:

• Your name as it appears in your passport
• Your date of birth
• Your nationality and passport number
• Your position, affiliation / organisation
• Your postal address
• Proof of your registration and e-mail address (the invitation letter for visa application will only be issued to registered participants).

NZeTA: NZ Immigration are introducing a NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) from 1 October 2019; this applies only to visitors from visa-waiver countries. Please see https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/nzeta for details. Australian and NZ passport holders do not need a visa or NZeTA waiver.
