Josephine Boateng is a geographer from Ghana with a Master of Sustainability Studies from UNU in Japan, where she also worked at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES). Currently, she is a doctoral researcher at the University of Melbourne, undertaking research concentrating on Climate Change Adaptation Policies and Reproductive and Sexual Health Outcomes. She also works as a Research Associate for the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies based at the University of Ghana. She is devoted to researching geographic phenomena and the socio-environmental effects the former may have on the latter.

She is always on the lookout for creative ways to make our planet greener and livable for future generations. From promoting greener choices to extensive research on climate’s impacts on lives and development, she believes that small, everyday actions can lead to significant changes. More recently, Josephine volunteers as a Policy, Research and Advocacy Advisor for CAHA and is a long-standing member of the Melbourne Climate Futures Academy and a Wattle Fellow. When she’s not buried in textbooks, you can find Josephine outdoors, exploring parks and old libraries. She also enjoys a good hike every now and then!

Josephine is a recipient of the Cherry Gertzel Award and serves as a postgraduate representative with AFSAAP, representing the University of Melbourne.
