03 Oct Recruiting for Deputy Editor and Senior Editor positions for Australasian Review of African Studies (ARAS)
The ARAS is looking for a Deputy Editor and Senior Editor (Asia and Pacific Region, other than Australia). This is a great opportunity for academics to mentor other researchers and writers. The ARAS, published by the African Studies Association of Australia and the Pacific (AFSAAP0, provides critical, authoritative and accessible material on a range of African affairs to as broad an audience as possible, both academic and non-academic.
Deputy Editor responsibilities
The Deputy Editor acts assumes the role of Editor-in-Chief in his/her absence and assists the Editor-in-Chief in all aspects of the journal. Expect to screen, edit and make final editorial decisions on 4-8 manuscripts a year.
Senior Editor responsibilities
As a Senior Editor you support the editors, peer review when a third reviewer is required and copy editing for 2-6 manuscripts a year. You are responsible for commissioning and guest editing thematic special issues and finding. They are expected to publish one of their papers free of charge in open access form in ARAS. We have Senior Academic and Section editors’ positions available in various fields and can have many in each field.

• Position you are interested in.
• Motivation (what motivates you about the position): 70 words max)
• Experience: your research and publishing experience (70 words max)
These are voluntary positions, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the advancement of African Studies. Editors play a key role in shaping scholarship by reviewing manuscripts, initiating special issues, and strengthening the journal’s policies and guidelines.
